Recent Reviews

We’ve been sending out free samples left, right and centre recently – it seems every blogger wants to review Rawr at the moment! (We love it!)

Cashew Power

1) Emma MacDougall of Raw Food Scotland did a review with her raw food meet-up group and video-taped it! Definitely worth a look. Check out the whole review here. Here’s a summary of what she thought of our different flavours:

Rawr Intensity: “definitely my favourite – this one I didn’t share with anyone!  It really reminded me of the richness of Bournville chocolate.  Really smooth, dark and powerful…”

Rawr After Dinner: “very reminscent in taste of After Eight dinner mints”

Rawr Zest: “nice and deep without being too overwhelming or sickly”

Rawr Passion: “the goji and vanilla work very well together”

Rawr Purity: “I really liked the simplicity.  As with the Intensity bar, it had a rich dark flavour uninterrupted by other flavours or ingredients”

Rawr Cashew Power: “it was very nice to have the combination of the choc and the creamy cashews together”

Rawr Intensity

2) Brit Chick Runs. Read her review here.

“Well well well! It was SO silky, SO intense, and SO lovely! And I’m not just saying that (I’ve had other brands of raw chocolate before and was distinctly unimpressed – too dusty textured), it truly was the smoothest chocolate ever. Melty deliciousness.”

Rawr Zest

3) Moves ‘n Munchies. Read her review here.

Packed with taste is an UNDERSTATEMENT!!!!!

I am SO for real when I say that this is the best chocolate I have ever tasted. EVER. Not only is it the best raw chocolate, but the best chocolate HANDS DOWN.

I cannot get over the SMOOTH texture that literally MELTS in your mouth.. this isn’t hard and snappy- its soft and delicate!”

Rawr Passion

4) White Lace and Strange. Read the whole review here.

Rawr Intensity: “The chocolate had a lovely dark colouring with a glossy sheen (not what I expected with the raw alternative),also the bars are nice and solid and making a pleasing “snap” sound when you break a square off.”

Rawr Passion: “I was so impressed with this chocolate as although it was just as smooth and glossy with the same tempting smell, the texture was not grainy in the least and actually reminded me of the more conventional processed chocolate bars.”

Purity and Zest

5) Salad and Sequins.

“I tried the Purity Raw Organic Dark Chocolate last night and WOW this was good!… When I think of a bar of Cadburys after tasting something like this there is no contest I’m staying raw!”

New Flavour!! – Organic 80% Cacao Intensity
Dec 3rd, 2010 by Kendra

We’re thrilled to announce our new flavour, Intensity! This is our darkest bar at 80% cacao content (Purity, our other dark bar, is 70%), and it is absolutely delicious. We’re very proud of it. It’s already proven itself at our recent stalls and events, and we think it’s going to be a bestseller.

Here are its 100% organic ingredients: Cacao Paste, Cacao Butter, Agave Nectar, Cacao Powder, Cacao Nibs (4.5%), Coconut Butter, Mesquite, Madagascan Vanilla.

You can order Intensity here. Please leave us a review if you try a bar, we’d love to know what you think!

Coming Soon – Tiny Angels with Rawr Chocolate!
Nov 18th, 2010 by Kendra

Tiny Angels with Rawr Chocolate

The Tiny Angel company is one of the cutest companies I’ve ever heard of. When Claire contacted us to say they were re-launching and asked if we would like to make raw chocolates to accompany their pewter angels, we said a big yes!

These angels are literally teeny – the chocolates in the photos weigh about 15g, to give you an idea! – and come with impossibly sweet knitted hats. (We don’t know how they’re made so small either!) When the Tiny Angel website is launched, you’ll be able to buy angels with your choice of Tiny Angel-branded Rawr chocolate (Passion, Purity, Zest, After Dinner, Christmas and Heatwave flavours), hand-made soap, or coffee. Angels will be given their own number and come in gift bags or tissue-lined boxes.

They really are the loveliest gifts, and are sure to bring a big smile and a warm feeling to whoever you give one to. I’ve ordered mine already – can’t wait to see the website go live! We’ll keep you updated and post the link when it does! In the meantime, you can follow Tiny Angels on twitter.

New Raw Restaurant ‘Vantra’: Our Visit
Nov 12th, 2010 by Kendra

Having thought I’d been to all of London’s raw restaurants, I was really excited to hear about Vantra, a new restaurant near Oxford Street which opened just last month.

Vantra is not yet fully up and running. When we visited this week, the food counters boasting signs for ‘raw falafel’ and ‘raw buckwheat pizza’ were sadly empty, and the owners were still screwing together furniture around us! The restaurant has great potential though – bigger and more central than many of London’s other raw eateries, with long tables, high stools and attractive lighting.

We filled ourselves up at the vegan buffet – mostly cooked or steamed, but with some raw salads – and sampled a couple of the nut milk based drinks (the extensive selection of smoothies and juices is ‘coming soon’). My carob and vanilla ‘Living Latte’ (no coffee, just warmed nut milk) was delicious, as was the fruity Nut Milk Lassi.

Keep an eye on the Vantra website – we think it will definitely be worth a visit once it gets going.

Rawr is 2!
Oct 28th, 2010 by Kendra

2008 - Rawr is born!

It’s a little over 2 years since we first began making Rawr Chocolate in earnest, practising our first market stall set-up on our dining room table (as pictured!) and making batches of chocolate, 8 bars at a time, in our kitchen. We’ve come a long way! And there’s much more to come. Keep an eye out for new flavours and other exciting developments. Here’s to many more years!
